Art Resin Review!!!

I'm so excited to share this blog with you today! Recently, I was given a 4 oz sample of the two-part ArtResin to review. I anxiously waited (stalked the USPS man!) for my kit to arrive and when It did I was absolutely struck by the clarity of it! When side-by-side you can really see the difference between Art Resin hardener and the Alumilite hardener!

I did some research on the company, the resin, and some of it's stellar features and then got to work! Like many epoxy resins it is a 1:1 ratio for mixing. I will be uploading a VLOG journal of a future piece I make using Art Resin so you can see it in action!

Art Resin has many extraordinary qualities and features, one of which I consider to be the most important:
Art Resin is SAFE!

"As per FDA 21CFR177.2280 safe for incidental food contact." (You can find the link to the Art Resin SDS under the Quick Links on their website!) That's pretty impressive, especially with the same beautiful properties as Art Resin!

In addition,
(From artresin.com)
"ArtResin epoxy resin is what chemists call a 'clean system'. Because "every ingredient that we put into ArtResin reacts (nothing floating up to be breathed in)."  Consumers are becoming increasingly more aware of safety concerns of all things, not only resin so it's great to see a company that worked so hard to make that happen!

Art Resin is made to last!

Art Resin resists yellowing, (from artresin.com)

"For starters, new Art Resin contains new German-engineered (US sourced) technology—an additive called HALS (hindered-amine light stabilization) which is an extremely efficient light stabilizing agent for excellent yellowing protection. "
This is great news because you can extend the life of whatever you use resin to create!

This is just a whisper of the great features of Art Resin! Check out

I really enjoyed working with Art Resin and looking forward to using it in future projects! Here are some of the things I've made:

One of the things I noticed with Art Resin is that it tends to get more of the "micro bubbles" in it so be sure to work under good lighting. Because I do my work in smaller layers The bubbles are an easy fix with a hair dryer. There are other options such as a blowtorch

 From ArtResin.com
"Heat guns and hair dryers are not as effective, as they do not produce carbon dioxide needed to eliminate the bubbles.

One other minor complaint that I have is the price although it's not much of a complaint because it's worth it's weight in gold! In the grand scheme of things I can't complain with a product that produces such amazing results. Bubbles or not!

Aside from that, I have to give Art Resin proper commendation because I think they are a company that is doing it right! They know they have a great product and they aren't afraid to reach out and engage their customers. You can use #ArtResin to have your work featured on their website and they are very nice and easy to work with!

Aside from the clarity, I am most impressed by the fact that it is FOOD SAFE! Because many resins release toxic chemicals when heated it's usually not suggested to use in houseware applications. This opens yet another door for crafters. Resin has become metaphor for infinite possibilities to me over time. I realize its potential and I love being able to give credit to companies that are bringing these things to our homes and into our work! Big thank you to Art Resin and thank you so much for reading! Simulated Granite Resin Tutorial!

For this project I'm using granite powder mixed with a resin called ArtResin (review to follow be sure to subscribe!) to create this custom MK mirror compact! I have UPCYCLED the authentic emblem to use on my creation! It's very easy to use and looks great-
Tips for using granite powder
-PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE wear a respirator to protect your lungs. You do not want to breath this stuff in!
-I always use granite powder over a white background, I'll go into more detail in the video.
-because it becomes very thick, it's better used on a flat surface or where details being compromised won't matter.
-it does extend the cure time a bit, but it will cure fully.
-have fun with it and be creative!
-just as a side note because there are so many uses for granite, if you decide to do something similar to what I've done with the MK signature it may not be wise to try to sell it. It's a great idea for a handmade gift ot to keep or show potential customers!
Thank you so much for reading!
